Electric vehicles pay the minimum rate in Brussels and Wallonia. In Flanders, the full exemption ended for registrations from 1 January 2026 (programme decree BO 2026): a reduced flat rate now applies.
The calculator adds up the tax calendar year by calendar year, exactly like the “Taxation” category of the TCO: a dated reform (such as the one announced in Brussels for 2027) is only applied to the years it covers, pro rata.
For the period from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, an 8 fiscal hp car pays €313.24 per year in Brussels and Wallonia, surcharges included. An 11 hp car pays €561.00, a 15 hp car €1,075.54.
Yes, but the minimum: €107.18 per year in Brussels and Wallonia. In Flanders, electric cars registered before 2026 remain exempt; those registered since 1 January 2026 pay a flat rate from €69.72.
The budget agreement of 5 October 2026 provides, from the second half of 2027, for the exemption of zero-emission vehicles and small city cars up to 5 fiscal hp, excluding leased vehicles. The ordinance has not yet been voted: the calculator only applies it if you tick the option.
For a company or a self-employed person, yes, at the vehicle’s CO2 deductibility rate (like the registration tax). The TCO includes it in the tax saving on the “Taxes (registration + road)” line.
